To command my Crown Forces army here is the command figure of Sir William Howe. It is a beautiful figure from Fife and Drum miniatures.
To go with Howe I have painted a figure of a lady in a riding habit to represent Mrs Loring. I thought it would be fun to add her to a command stand vignette. Perhaps a couple of General or staff officers trying to get orders from a distracted General Howe. We will see how it comes out!
Great use of this female figure Mark - I have her too, along with another mounted lady plus both versions on foot - as you no doubt also have them! Cant recall the manufacturer now but they are very nice and I have two mounted gentlemen from the same range.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Since many historians accuse Howe of spending too much time with Mrs Loring and not enough time defeating The American rebels thought it would be fun to add her to my army command stand. And yes they are grand figures The figures are from Fife and Drum miniatures.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely understand the motivation - I have been trying to find a suitable figure for Marshal Massena's mistress in the Peninsula campaign! Nice little ditty I read somewhere years ago and found via Google this evening :
ReplyDeleteSir William he, snug as a flea,
Lay all this time a snoring,
Nor dream’d of harm, as he lay warm,
In bed with Mrs. Loring.
Good luck with finding Marshal Massena's mistress. She should have a hussar outfit if I remember correctly. And thank you for reminding me about the duty on Howe and Mrs Loring. I am going to use it in my write up if the completed command stand.
