"The U.S. Forest Service is firing around 3,400 hires while the National Park Service is terminating about 1,000 under Trump's push to cut federal spending.
The cuts represent 10% percent of the U.S. Forest Service workforce and 5% of Park Service employees. They are part of Elon Musk's campaign to radically cut back the U.S. bureaucracy.”
This year when parks are opened for limited hours or most programs are cut back you know why
Update: time to fight back!!
Itz going to be interesting four years.......good luck!
ReplyDeleteNot looking good right now. And turning our backs on friends and allies in the world. Dark times.
DeleteMy personal favourite was King Elonad cutting the folks from the DoE who manage the nuclear weapons and nuclear waste facilities, then backtracking once they sorted it out who they fired. A complete disgrace. Mark, I don't know how we're going to make it for the next four years.
ReplyDeleteOn the plus side, the Velveeta Voldemort won't have adoring crowds for the 250th, because no one will be there to tell anyone about it.
Eric
Read about the nuclear weapons and nuclear waste facilities people today. Unbelievable stupid.
DeleteMMNHP is already cutting back on 250th anniversary activities due to these cuts. A Ranger I know with 24 years in service just lost her job.
A parade of travesties, one after another.
ReplyDeleteEvery day it gets worse.
DeleteOh dear?
ReplyDeletePres. Trump's aim to cut Federal spending, though wrong-headed, does accord with conventional economic ... erm ... 'wisdom'. Unfortunately. Apart from increasing the jobless figures, there may be other consequences to this particular move - and not altogether unpredictable ones. Maybe.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Ion
Decimating and whole scale firing the following agencues is not balancing the budget. Its endangering our security and safety; Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services,Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,Department of Education,Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Internal Revenue Service, Medicare, National Institutes of Health, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Treasury Department, U.S. Agency for International Development,
DeleteThe park service was already underfunded to begin with and cutting its budget and personnel will only make it worse. Don’t forget the VA on your list.
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed the VA!!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough April 19 2025 is the 250 anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord the park has already canceled most of the planned events and activities due to staffing. As you said the permanent full time staff is very small and with the loss of staff and hiring freeze there is not much they can do. Prepare for this National wide. I know Yellowstone is having major issues with it reservation system. Dark times ahead.
