We all might be done with Covid 19; but Covid is not done with us. I have done my best to keep it at bay, but in the end it got me. Janine and I both tested positive Tuesday. We had been to a wedding over the weekend of my nephew and that probably where we picked it up. A number of other people from the same wedding also came down with it.
I am feeling exhausted and tired, sore throat and sniffy nose. Slight head ach but not sure if it's related or not. Pushing lots of liquids but not very hungry. We are both on Proxlovid. Looks like it will be playing havoc with my medical schedule in the coming weeks. I will have to reschedule all my rehabilitation appointments and I did have surgery scheduled in October which will be postponed.
To pass the time I am listening to my audio books. They came at just the right time! I am also taking time out to watch Casablanca again, which is my all time favorite movie.
Get well!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSpeedy recovery Mark for you both.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. Janine and I appreciate it.
Delete"Bugger!" Hope it's not to debilitating - I have still managed to avoid it, as have our kids - my wife had it back in May after our week in Queenstown - three of four had Covid after returning home but fortunately, I managed to keep it at bay. I expect I will get it eventually but by the time I do, its just going to be an illness and I may not even bother testing to see what it is that's making me sick!
ReplyDeleteIn some ways it's a relief finally getting, After being so careful for so long and worried about it. but its no picnic. Thank goodness for the medicine. I am on day five and although tired not doing too bad. But now up and around the house.
DeleteSorry to hear this Mark and not good that it's affected your rehab and op :(. I caught Covid at a friends Confirmation at the church and was less than impressed as hardly anyone was wearing a mask (I was). Cases back on the rise in the UK...
ReplyDeleteYes, just when you think its time to get back to life it gets you!
DeleteThe worse part for me is having to reschedule all my previous medical appointments.
Mark, hope you feel better soon. I picked it up a few weeks ago and gave it to my wife. It certainly reeks havoc on your life in so many different ways.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does!
DeleteRest up, feel better. And watch out for the rebound. I heard someone in a crowded street say "Is Covid still a thing?" because I was wearing a mask. Answer: yes.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. Its funny because we have been very cautious. Got the vax and boosters; still wearing masks in crowded buildings. I got through months and months of working at the Airport wearing masks and did not get it. But we did not mask up at the wedding and here we go! My bad!
DeleteWe've also been very cautious, don't dine indoors at restaurants, etc. No idea how we finally got it late August. At least with vax, boosters and paxlovid it wasn't that bad. Still being cautious.
DeleteBummer (to say the least). It finally caught up to our house in August; We were more fortunate given that it screwed up some travel plans, but not anything as important as medical procedures and treatments. Glad you've got the paxlovid, anyway. Hope you both come through sooner rather than later and are able to get back on track.
ReplyDeleteThe medicine really made a difference. We are both feeling better today but still tired out. Worst part is reschedule my medical options. MGH hospital is really backed up.
DeleteLooks like the operation on the tumor they discovered in my head (what they call an incidental finding!)will be put off for next year!
DeleteSorry to hear that, Mark. Hope yiou are feeling well soon. As you say, Covid is definitely not done with us yet...
ReplyDeleteCheers,
David.
Thank you so very much!
DeleteSorry to hear that Covid finally caught up with you. Paxlovid was a big help for me. The side effect was that the meds had a metallic taste in my mouth for several hours after each dose. I sucked on hard cinnamon candy to offset the taste thing. I had a wet cough for about 5 days and then that went away. The toughest mental part lies ahead as you will know that you have made it to the other side but you just can’t get that darn negative Covid test. That part was a little depressing for me but after 2-3 weeks after the end of symptoms I finally got a negative test.
ReplyDeleteYeah, good medicine, bad taste.
ReplyDeleteYes, had that myself. Bad taste but it helped. Went through the medicine and felt better for a couple days. But now have a annoying stuff head and cough. Wish it would just go away!
